Paid parental leave

Paid parental leave is leave paid by the Commonwealth Government for the birth or adoption of a child. 18 weeks of pay is paid to the mother of a newborn or carer of an adopted child, and two weeks of pay is paid to the dad of a newborn (or partner of a carer of an adopted child). The rate of pay is based on the national minimum wage, and the employee must meet various eligibility requirements.
